Dakota Discovery Museum to Celebrate Youth Art Month with 2016 Art Show

The Youth Art Show is back! After a hiatus in 2015, Dakota Discovery Museum is bringing back the Youth Art Show for 2016. This exhibit offers students the opportunity to highlight their work in a gallery setting and have it evaluated by professional artists.

Youth Art Month is an annual observance to emphasize the value of art education for all students and to encourage high quality school and community art programs.

Students grades K – 12 who live or attend school in South Dakota, including all public, private, and home school students, are eligible to participate. Entry forms are available online at www.dakotadiscovery.com, by calling 605.996.2122, or emailing history@dakotadiscovery.com.

The Youth Art Show will open on February 29 and run through Saturday April 2, 2016, at the museum, located on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University at 1300 McGovern Avenue. The museum will also host a free artist reception is planned for Saturday, April 2 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Professional artists will attend to provide evaluation of individual students’ work.

Regular hours for the duration of the exhibit are Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During the exhibition, admission to the museum is free for student artists and their immediate families.
